The fast expansion of information and communication technology (ICT) has transformed teacher training programs which now focus on teaching technological skills that educators need to succeed in their classrooms. The research investigates how secondary teacher trainees understand technology while it studies their technological abilities through different school environments and their male or female status and their local community setting. The research team collected data from 409 teacher trainees by administering a standardized technological knowledge scale through their descriptive survey method. The data analysis process included percentage analysis together with independent sample t-tests to evaluate the collected information. The research findings showed that most teacher trainees had average technological knowledge when they started their training. The research did not uncover any major distinctions between teacher trainees who attended government or government-aided institutions and those who studied at private schools. The study showed that urban teacher trainees had superior technological knowledge compared to their rural counterparts. The research showed that female teacher trainees learned technology better than their male fellow trainees when they received their training. The study reveals that future teachers who teach in rural schools require dedicated educational programs which will deliver equal technology access and learning resources to their students. Teacher education programs Need to build their techno-pedagogical expertise because teachers who want to succeed in technology-based education require this training.
