Abstract

Water scarcity remains a critical issue in the dry and semi-arid areas of western Rajasthan. The Jawai Dam, located in Pali district, serves as a vital water source for irrigation, potable use, and ecological requirements of the surrounding regions. This research article aims to examine the degree to which the ongoing water crisis in western Rajasthan is mitigated by the water management strategies of Jawai Dam. Data was gathered from governmental publications and other published research articles employing a descriptive research methodology. The study indicates that Jawai Dam's optimal functionality is hindered by poor management, siltation, and unpredictable rainfall patterns, despite its significant improvements in irrigation capacity and drinking water supply. The study asserts that the region's enduring sustainability and equitable water allocation depend on the modernization of distribution infrastructure, public engagement, and integrated water resource management.
