Abstract

Achievement motivation is an inner drive that pushes to an individual and foster to success and improve the quality of excellence. The present study focused on achievement motivation of secondary school students in reference to gender and area of school. The sample of the study has been taken by using multistage sampling technique. Total 160 students, in which 80 rural school students (40 boys and 40 girls) and 80 urban school students (40 boys and 40 girls) selected for the study sample. Achievement Motive Test (ACMT) prepared by V. P. Bhargava (1994) used to assess the study variables and obtained data was analyzed through descriptive statistics such as mean, SD and t test. The result indicates that there is no significance difference found between gender and area of school on achievement motivation of secondary school students.

  • Dr. Anil Balaso Balugade, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Shri Shahaji Chhatrapati Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur (MS)

    Dr. Anil Balaso Balugade received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. He also received a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Humanities from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (currently Sambhajinagar). He is a sub-committee member of the syllabus committee at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and also serves as a BoS member for the Psychology subject at Kamala College, Kolhapur (Autonomous), Maharashtra, India.
