Abstract

Land resources are a priceless gift of nature that have long provided a foundation for the economic, social, and cultural development of humans. In a developing and agriculture-based country like India, this resource holds immense importance since about 68% of India’s population lives in rural areas, directly or indirectly dependent on land resources for their livelihood. However, with the rising population of the country, there is an increasing and continuous pressure on land resources to provide food and meet basic needs. This has resulted in significant changes in India’s land use patterns. If the population continues to grow at this rate, the country may soon face problems like unemployment, hunger, malnutrition, and a decline in per capita food availability.

 Abstract in Hindi Language: भूमि संसाधन प्रकृति प्रदत एक अमूल्य संसाधन है जो मानव को लंबे समय से आर्थिक, सामाजिक तथा सांस्कृतिक विकास को आधार प्रदान कर रहा हैं। भारत जैसे विकासशील व कृषि प्रधान देश में इस संसाधन का बहुत अधिक महत्व हैं क्योंकि  भारत की लगभग 68% जनसंख्या ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में है जो प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से अपनी आजीविका के लिए भूमि संसाधन पर निर्भर है। लेकिन देश की बढ़ती हुई जनसंख्या के भरण-पोषण के लिए तथा मूलभूत आवश्यकता के लिए भूमि संसाधन पर निरंतर दबाव बढ़ता जा रहा हैं। जिससे भारत के भू उपयोग प्रतिरूप में काफी परिवर्तन देखा गया। यद्यपि जनसंख्या इसी अनुपात से बढ़ती रही तो निकट भविष्य में बेरोजगारी भुखमरी कुपोषण तथा प्रति व्यक्ति उपलब्ध खाद्यान्न की मात्रा जैसी समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ सकता हैं।

Author Biography

  • Sarita Devi

    Sarita Devi is a dedicated academic professional with a strong background in geography. She completed her M.Sc. in Geography in 2012 from Government PG College, Hisar. She began her teaching career as a school lecturer, serving in this role from 2017 to 2019, where she gained valuable experience in mentoring and guiding students at the secondary level. Since 2019, Sarita Devi has been working as an Assistant Professor of Geography in the Department of Geography at Government College Hisar, Higher Education, Haryana, where she continues to contribute to higher education through her teaching, curriculum development, and active participation in academic initiatives. She qualified UGC-NET 2011 and JRF in 2013. She has eight years of teaching experience. Her area of research interests is in the human, social and economic geography. She has significantly contributed to the field of academic and extension geography. She has published three research papers in various reputed national and international journals, two book chapters and four abstracts in different seminars. She has also presented research papers in various national & international seminar and conferences.
