A Study on the Influence of Learning Style on the Academic Performance of Secondary School Students of Nayagarh District

Learning styles are various approaches or ways of learning. They involve educating methods, particular to an individual that are presumed to allow that individual to learn best. It is necessary that teachers, school managers and other members of instructional team take to account differences of learning styles of students. Academic Achievement or academic performance is taken as a key criterion to evaluate one’s total potentialities and capabilities. Academic achievement is commonly measured by examinations or continuous assessment but there is no general agreement on how it is best tested or which aspects is most important. This study investigates the influence of different learning styles on the academic performance of secondary school students in Nayagarh District. Using statistical analysis through t-tests, the findings reveal a significant correlation between specific learning preferences and academic success among students in various schools within the district. The results highlight the need for tailored educational methods that cater to diverse learning styles, thus impacting academic outcomes positively.
